wpm-ofdm radar signal design for joint optimality of detection performance and ambiguity function shape

چکیده
in recent years, wavelet packet modulation ofdm (wpm-ofdm) signals have been introduced for radar applications. these signals have important properties such as inherent high range resolution and high resistance of radar system against jamming reception. this paper investigates the problem of designing these family of signals according to the following criteria: constrained maximization of the detection performance in the presence of colored gaussian noise and clutter with known covariance matrix and constrained minimization of the least square error between desired and designed ambiguity functions. so, the problem can be formulated in terms of a non-convex multi-objective optimization problem. to solve it, first, the weighted sum method is used to reduce the original signal design problem to scalar one. then, to find optimal solution, the particle swarm optimization algorithm which is simple and computationally efficient will be used.

On the Frame Design for Joint OFDM Radar and Communications
We discuss how to design OFDM signals which are suitable for both radar and communications using high-bandwidth OFDM signals. A list of constraints which the signal configuration must comply with is defined. We present a solution which satisfies the requirements for radar and allows for reliable communications.
متن کاملMIMO radar signal design to improve the MIMO ambiguity function via maximizing its peak
One of the important obstacles in MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) radars is the issue of designing proper transmit signals. Indeed, the capability of signal design is a significant advantage in MIMO radars, through which, the system can achieve much better performance. Many different aspects of this performance improvement have been considered yet, and the transmit signals have been desig...
متن کاملRadar Waveform Design for Detection Performance Improvement
In this dissertation, we study the problem of waveform design for improvement of detection performance in radar systems. To this end, for single-input single-output (SISO) systems, we consider the effect of the signal-dependent interference at receive side (i.e., clutter) and the fact that Doppler shift of targets are often unknown at the transmit side. The raised design problems (for various s...
متن کاملRadar Signal Detection in K-distributed Clutter by Pade Approximation
In this paper, two suboptimum detectors are proposed for coherent radar signal detection in K-distributed clutter. Assuming certain values for several initial moments of clutter amplitude, the characteristic function of the clutter amplitude is approximated by a limited series. Using the Pade approximation, it is then converted to a rational fraction. Thus, the pdf of the clutter amplitude is o...

This paper derives the extended ambiguity function for a bistatic multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) radar system, which includes the whole radar system parameters: geometric sensor configuration, waveforms, range, range rate, target scattering and noise characteristics. Recent research indicates the potential parameter estimate performance of bistatic MIMO radars. And this ambiguity functio...
متن کاملThe Phase Retrieval Problem for the Radar Ambiguity Function and the Radar Ambiguity Function for the Phase Retrieval Problem
This talk is based on a joint paper with A. Bonami and G. Garrigós [3] in which the phase retrieval problem for the Radar Ambiguity Function (i.e. the Radar Ambiguity Problem) has been tackled. In particular it was shown that for wide classes of signals, the radar ambiguity problem has a unique solution, up to trivial transformations. In the second part of the talk, we report on ongoing work by...
